The hosts are currently third in the IPL standings with 10 points to show for their efforts in seven matches so far. A win on Thursday will see them go top of the league. The visitors are sixth with just four points from eight matches. They have to win the rest of their matches in order to have any hopes of making the playoffs.
While the Delhi Daredevils beat the Gujarat Lions on Tuesday evening, the Rising Pune Supergiants were defeated by the Mumbai Indians on Sunday evening.

After contributions from Saurabh Tiwary and Steve Smith helped the Supergiants post 159/5 batting first with MS Dhoni and Thisara Perera also contributing towards the end, Rohit Sharma hit an unbeaten 85 runs off 60 deliveries to drag his team to yet another win on the bounce.
The Supergiants have lacked the killer instinct on their first season in the IPL. Dhoni himself has been far from his best with the bat and his strike-rate this year has not been the greatest. The bowling has lacked teeth and the skipper has not shied away from answering questions about his team’s poor performances with the ball when pressed on the subject.
On the other hand, the Daredevils have emerged as a very strong side this season under their new coach Rahul Dravid. They executed their plans superbly with the ball to limit the Gujarat Lions to 149/5. Had it not been for Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja’s efforts, they would have struggled to put a decent total on the board. Skipper Zaheer Khan was once again superb with the ball.
Rishabh Pant and Quinton de Kock gave the side a perfect start with a 115-run partnership for the first wicket. While Pant hit 69 runs off just 40 deliveries, the South African managed 46 runs off 45 deliveries. However, the side was well on course as Sanju Samson and JP Duminy put the finishing touches on a deserved victory that was achieved with 16 deliveries to spare.
The Daredevils have shown great application and immense belief this year. De Kock and Zaheer have been their stand out performers and they have fired collectively as a unit.
